Extropy
Origin
First coined to serve as an antonym of entropy, substituting its en- element (representing the prepositional prefix á¼Î½, en, “in†in its Ancient Greek etymon á¼Î½Ï„Ïοπία, entropia, “a turning towardsâ€) with ex- (representing the Ancient Greek á¼Î¾, ex, “out ofâ€, “fromâ€); because á¼Î¾ (ex) takes the form á¼Îº when prefixed to an element beginning with Ï„, the analogical spelling is ectropy (or, alternatively, ektropy), as if after the Ancient Greek *á¼ÎºÏ„Ïοπία (ektropia, "a turning out of").
