From French giraffe (now girafe), from Arabic زَرَاÙÙŽØ© (zarÄfa, "giraffe"), apparently ultimately from Persian زرناپا (zurnÄpÄ, "giraffe"), a compound of زرنا (zurnÄ, "flute, zurna") and پا (pÄ, "leg").
