But now left, as Men are ready to imagine, theÅ¿e Events might Å¿eem to happen according to Å¿ome fix’d courÅ¿e of Nature, and not by the diÅ¿penÅ¿ation of the Creator, he ordain’d that Å¿ome few Creatures Å¿hould propagate their Kind upon Earth after a different manner, for an Indication and Sign of his Providence  : That for example, the Raven Å¿hould bring forth her Young at the Mouth, and the Weezle propagate at the Ear ; that Å¿ome Å¿ort of Fowls, as Hens, Å¿hould bring forth Eggs, addle either by the Wind or the DuÅ¿t ; that Å¿ome other Creatures Å¿hould change the Male by turns, into the Female, and every Year alter their Sex ; as Hares and the Hyænæ, which they call MonÅ¿ters ; the Å¿ome Å¿hould ariÅ¿e out of the Earth, and take thence their FleÅ¿h, as Moles ; others out of AÅ¿hes, as Vipers ; others out of putrefy’d FleÅ¿h, as WaÅ¿ps out of the FleÅ¿h of HorÅ¿es, and Bees out of that of Kine ; others out of Cows Dung, as Beetles ; others out of Herbs, as the Scorpion out of BaÅ¿il ; and on the contrary, that Herbs Å¿hould Å¿pring out of Animals, as Smallage and AÅ¿paragus out of the Horn of a Stag or of a Roeâ€Buck.
