1. Composed of, or furnished with, thin plates or scales.
2. Having at least some component segments being lengthened on one side and flattened into circles, making these segments look like a stack of dinner plates.The dung beetle had lamellate antennae.

Usage notes

This term is used especially to describe certain insect antennae in which the last segments are so shaped into a compact club of flat plates. Lamellate antennae are a form of clubbed, or clavate antennae.
