Origin

Coined by Ferdinand von Richthofen as German Rhyolith, from Ancient Greek ῥέω (rheō, "flow") + -lith (modified to -lite).

Noun

1. (geology) An igneous, volcanic (extrusive) rock, of felsic composition, with aphanitic to porphyritic texture.
