• Sacrum

From Latin ōs sacrum ("holy bone"), translation of Ancient Greek ἱερόν ("") ὀστέον (hieron osteon). Called so either because supposedly sacrum was the part of an animal offered in sacrifice or because of the belief that the soul of the man resides there.
