wacky + parse. Though wackyparsing as a concept probably originated in Kibology (at alt.religion.kibology), at least as early as 1998http://groups.google.com/groups?hl=en&q=wackyparsing&qt_s=Search, the term has come to have wider usage, particularly on Usenet.
