From Middle English biche, bicche, from Old English biÄ‹Ä‹e, from Proto-Germanic *bikjÇ (compare Norwegian bikkja ("dog"), Old Danish bikke), from *bikjanÄ… ("to thrust, attack") (compare Old Norse bikkja ("plunge into water"), Dutch bikken ("to hack")). More at bicker.
